Kate Crane Mixed Media Workshop with Stampers Grove Lilliesleaf Sunday 25 February 2024

Thank you to those that have booked on this workshop - now fully booked - we will start a short waiting list in the event of cancellations - see below

We at Stampers Grove are delighted to welcome Kate Crane for the first time for a workshop in our home village of Lilliesleaf.

We have been lucky enough to have Kate Crane join us on a number of occasions when we have been on the road at craft shows and are now thrilled to have Kate come to us and run a workshop in the Scottish Borders.

About Kate (in Kates words):

"I am happily married with grown up children,  living in a rural village in the north of England, UK, with various small animals.  I am a teaching artist, and crafts tutor teaching in the UK and other parts of Europe, and love to share my passion for all things arty with others.

Designer and creator of rubber stamps, art printing plates, and stencils for Carabelle Studio.......... "

So about the class.......

A bright and colourful day with Kate Crane and Stampers Grove

Come and spend a messy, creative, colourful day with Kate Crane, and Stampers Grove in the beautiful Scottish Borders

Date:   Sunday 25th February 2024
Place:   Currie Memorial Hall, Lilliesleaf, Near Melrose, Scottish Borders TD6 9HX
Time:   10.30am – 3.30pm

(See bottom of this page for some general advice in terms of getting to Lilliesleaf)

If you would like to join us it is now time to act.

We anticipate that demand for places may be high. However, as it is a busy time of year rather than collecting payment over the Christmas period, instead we or Kate Crane will be in touch by the end of the year and you will then have until 7 January to pay for your place to secure your booking.

To make our life as easy as possible and to give you peace of mind that you have a place on the workshop if you want one (without the workshop being over subscribed) you can now reserve your right to book a place on the workshop. We have created a notional product (zero cost) at this stage (see below). After making sure you are happy with the workshop details outlined and the terms etc, add it to your basket (do so as a separate order i.e. don't order with anything else) and then submit your order as you would with any other order. You will receive a confirmation email. We will then be touch as outlined here.

** After we have been in touch payment of £50 (by 7 January unless a different date is advised) will be required to confirm your booking. This will include kits and materials on the day, as well as light lunch and refreshments (After booking your place please let us know if there are allergies or dietary requirements that we should be aware of)
**Cancellation may be made up to two weeks prior to the event (i.e. by 11 February) and a refund will be give providing your place can be sold

**note: inevitably there may be circumstances which are out of our control which may cause us to alter the arrangements. Obviously if this was the case we would attempt to reschedule where possible. Refunds relating to the Workshop fees would then be offered if you were then unable to attend. We are sorry but we can't be held liable to any other consequential losses which may arise. We would of course give as much notice as possible where this was the case.

Firstly, Kate will guide you through her favourite mixed Media techniques, and then share a variety of project ideas to bring it all together. Project kits will be provided on the day so no pressure to complete everything, just a fun, relaxed and very colourful day!
•    Mono printing with the gel press
•    Collage
•    Stamping
•    Colouring techniques with water-based mediums
•    Alcohol inks (with stencils AND on the gel plate)
•    Grafix Duralar and what to do with it!
•    Mini book binding, tags, and even a journal page

James and Emma of Stampers Grove will be there with a pop-up shop* (for all the supplies you need, as well as those you don’t!)

*Note Stampers Grove don't have a physical shop anymore, so this will be a pop up shop with a selection of our crafting goodies. We have created a coupon code for those attending the class that would like to access our whole website (9000+ products) and collect their products on the day of the class (only use if you have fully paid up for the class). Use the coupon 'KATELEAF' (spends > £15) [Valid up until and including Friday 23rd February] and this will remove postage and it will take 5% off all items on our website which are not currently discounted. We will have an envelope with your name on it which we will pass you before the class starts.*

Kate always carries plenty of supplies and spares to use on the day but you may like to bring:
Watercolours or any water-based colouring mediums and paintbrush, gel press (any size), brayer, art journal or junk journal, any favourite collage scraps, anything for mark making such as stabilo pencil, distress crayons or similar, a white pen (Posca 1-M), glue and/or tape…. Oh, and maybe wear an apron!

Note the venue has parking directly outside. There is also parking in the village and hopefully next door at the Primary School.

If you would like any more information please get in touch, although note over the Christmas period we may not respond immediately.

Kate and of course us James and Emma are really looking forward to this and hope you can join us.

How to get there? Lilliesleaf is lovely rural village however not best served by public transport. To give you an idea our nearest shop is probably about 5-6 miles away. We have run workshops here before and everyone has managed to get here fine thankfully. There is no public transport directly through the village. So the easiest way to get to Lilliesleaf would be by car.  We are about a 70 minute drive from Edinburgh. In terms of towns near by (e.g. if you were looking for accomodation). Distances as follows: Melrose (7 Miles), Selkirk (6 miles), Hawick (8 miles), Jedburgh (11 miles), Kelso (15 miles). You may of course find other accomodation nearer if you put the post code TD6 9HX into a accomodation finding website. The nearest train station is Tweedbank (near Melrose) about 7 miles away. There may be scope to do some car sharing with fellow workshop goers. It is our intention to set up a private Facebook Group ahead of the class so you may be able to sort this other attendees.
